Police in Tuscaloosa have charged a 24-year-old man with murder after a fatal shooting on Elm Street Tuesday night.

Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said police have identified Omar Fowler, 24, as responsible for the Tuesday night killing of Henry McAlpine.

Kennedy said Fowler and the 44-year-old victim were acquaintances and had a personal disagreement Tuesday night. Fowler allegedly shot McAlpine, who was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center by personal vehicle. He died there Wednesday morning.

Fowler was charged with murder and booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $150,000 bond. He remained there late Wednesday night.
