2022 Tuscaloosa Heritage Festival Coming in April is a ‘Fun Cultural Celebration’
The 2022 Tuscaloosa Heritage Festival (WAMA Fest) hosted by the West Alabama Multicultural Alliance Inc. (WAMA) will take place on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center (620 Greensboro Avenue, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401) from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
The event is free to the public and is “Celebrating Tuscaloosa Sister Cities and Saluting the Queen of Blues, Dinah Washington” is a “fun cultural celebration,” said the press release. It will feature food, live music, dance, and original artwork from local students.
This year, the festival will highlight the Tuscaloosa Sister Cities: Narashino, Japan; Schorndorf, Germany and Sunyani-Techiman, Ghana. Also, there will be a K-12 student Art Competition and the “prizes will be awarded to the students who “Rep Our Sister Cities Heritage” the best through original artwork.”
According to the press release, “the festival is sponsored by Tuscaloosa Tourism & Sport Commission, Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. Tuscaloosa Sister Cities International, and Tuscaloosa Civil Rights History and Reconciliation Foundation.”
