2014 Grammy Awards: Bold Predictions to Win
The Grammy Awards are Sunday night at 7pm on CBS42. I'm here to tell you who will win. Yes, Greg's bold predictions that you can take to the bank! Boom.
I preach my confidence, but I also think back to a listener who was oh so quick to point out my missed picks in the past. She calls out my award picks. Ok. Then, she goes further to remind me of the missed pick on who would win 'Amazing Race.' Hey, I was close, my pick was runner-up. Then, I'm called out for my college basketball bracket. C'mon now, who doesn't have a bunch of red lines for wrong picks?
I believe the trick is to think like the academy voter and not by personal feelings or commercial success. I'm getting in the head of the typical academy voter. Yes. Let me pull a coffee to my side and channel this necessary energy.
Ok, ready. I'm picking from the 4 major categories, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best New Artist and Record of the Year. You are more than welcome to say I need attention from Bryce Hospital or back me up in the comment box below.
Here we go!
Song of the Year
Pink Feat. Nate Ruess, ’Just Give Me a Reason’
Bruno Mars, ‘Locked Out of Heaven’
Katy Perry, ‘Roar’
Lorde, ‘Royals’
Macklemore + Ryan Lewis, ‘Same Love’
Greg's Pick 2 Win: Lorde 'Royals' - I see the academy looking at the very young and talented Lorde to join their ring of fame with their other female favorites, Adele and Taylor Swift. The clever song will get its recognition with this trophy. I still don't get why Lorde was not nominated for Best New Artist. Are they saving that for something to give her next year? It would follow the logic train of nominating Ed Sheeran a year after 'The A Team' was nominated.
Album of the Year
Sara Bareilles, ‘The Blessed Unrest’
Daft Punk, ‘Random Access Memories’
Kendrick Lamar, ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’
Macklemore + Ryan Lewis, ‘The Heist’
Taylor Swift, ‘Red’
Greg's Pick 2 Win: Taylor Swift 'Red' - Yes, we will once again have the fantastic opportunity to watch Taylor act out of her mind surprised face when her name is announced! The Twitter universe will have fun leaving their comments on the moment too.
Best New Artist
James Blake
Kendrick Lamar
Macklemore + Ryan Lewis
Kacey Musgraves
Ed Sheeran
Greg's prediction: Ed Sheeran - I think Macklemore + Ryan Lewis should win it. But, Ed Sheran will win it. The academy likes the artist with a guitar, such as Mr. Ed. PLUS, the academy LOVES Taylor Swift and he paired up with her on 'Everything Changes.' Game over.
Record of the Year
Daft Punk Feat. Pharrell Williams, ‘Get Lucky’
Imagine Dragons, ‘Radioactive’
Lorde, ‘Royals’
Bruno Mars, ‘Locked Out of Heaven’
Robin Thicke Feat. Pharrell Williams + T.I., ‘Blurred Lines’
Greg's Pick 2 Win: Daft Punk Feat. Pharrell Williams, ‘Get Lucky’ - I want to see these mysterious helmet wearing guys give an acceptance speech! EDM was so big this past year and these comeback kids were leading the charge.
Enjoy the show!
