Zsa Zsa Gabor, Iconic Actress and Socialite, Dead at 99
Zsa Zsa Gabor, the legendary Hungarian actress and socialite, has died at the age of 99. TMZ reports that Gabor passed away in her Los Angeles home on Sunday, just months shy of her 100th birthday in February.
Gabor was crowned Miss Hungary in 1936 and moved to the United States in 1941. Her first movie was a supporting role in the 1952 film Lovely to Look At. She later went on to appear in such films as 1952's Moulin Rouge, Death of a Scoundrel, and The Man Who Wouldn't Talk. In the later part of her career, she made cameos in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, The Naked Gun 2.5, The Beverly Hillbillies, and A Very Brady Sequel.
She became more famous, however, based on her social life among the Hollywood elite. Gabor was married nine times during her lifetime, including relationships with Conrad Hilton (founder of Hilton Hotels), Jack Ryan (inventor of the Barbie doll), and Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt, her husband at the time of her death. She had only one child, Francesca Hilton (great-aunt of Paris Hilton).
In 2002, Gabor was involved in a serious car accident which left her partially paralyzed and limited her mobility. She spent the later years in her life confined to her home and despite the numerous birthday parties thrown by her husband, visitors were never allowed to enter her bedroom to see her. Most recently, she was hospitalized for a lung infection two days after her 99th birthday in February 2016.
