The body of a woman found dumped along I-65 in Birmingham has been identified by authorities.

Monday morning, near exit 271 on I-65 in Jefferson County (near Gardendale and Fultondale), a woman's body was found in the grass on the side of the highway. She was found wearing spandex pants, a bra, no shoes and an orange Six Flags wrist band. The Jefferson County Sheriff's office has released the identity of the woman, as 28 year-old Jennifer Leigh Butler of Huntsville.

The North Jefferson News reported, the cause of death is still being determined by the county coroner's office, which used X-ray records to determine Butler's identity. No signs of trauma were observed. Results from a toxicology report won't be known for a few weeks.

According to AL.com's report, Sheriff's Sgt. Jack Self said:

Butler had been in Birmingham visiting friends on Friday, and was not heard from since that time. Her mother filed a missing persons report with the Huntsville Police Department on Sunday.

They determined that she last used her ATM card in Bessemer on Friday night.

Self said sheriff's detectives are still working to determine how she came to be along the interstate. Butler's car, a silver 2010 Mazda, is also missing and has been listed as stolen. The car's license number is an Alabama tag, 47FM569.
