One of things I've certainly noticed that Tuscaloosa lacks is a zoo of sorts. Luckily for us, Limestone County will soon have a zoo perfect for a weekend or day trip. Thanks to the North Alabama Zoological Society, parents and children alike will soon have a new place to visit.

According to WHNT 19, the new zoo will built in various stages, with first stage set to display animals that are native to the Tennessee Valley area. That's not all it will hold however. It will contain various other attractions such as an aquarium and an entertainment district.

Plans also include expansion for three areas known as "Adventure Areas" representing North America, Africa, and Asia. They will have animals representing the continents for everyone to see as well.

NALZS Executive Director Ethan Woodruff said of the coming zoo "We have been working on the project for the last two years setting the groundwork for creating a much-wanted experience in our area...Other regions and communities our size have them, now is the right time for North Alabama to get one."

One of the more interesting sides to this zoo project is that they are seeking help in fundraising 11 million dollars to make the dream a reality. The fundraising goal is large, but officials say that it will be worth it, as the zoo is estimated to bring $100 Million for the local community.

If you'd like to help make the zoo project a reality, you can donate here. Hopefully soon we can all meet up there for a day and check out some Elephants!
