Tuscaloosa Gems: ICON

Whenever you think about a fun bar in town, you probably think of Wheelhouse, Houndstooth, Gray Lady, or any bar on the strip. But the most underrated hot -- fun spot here in town is no other than Icon in Downtown Tuscaloosa.

It being the only gay bar in town it kinda gets stigmatized, which really bums me out. Every bartender in their is happy to be apart of a great family and team, I met the owner maybe one year ago and I'm telling you he is a hoot, great guy and super fun to be around.

People have to realize how awesome and care free Icon is. It's a place for someone to be themselves in a loving and caring atmosphere. From drag to dancing -- you cannot sleep on the excitement and awesomeness that this bar brings to Tuscaloosa.

In my honest opinion, Tuscaloosa is very lucky to have such a diverse bar in a kind of non-diverse town here in Alabama. If you never gave Icon a try, please do it. The southern hospitality with a touch of flair is something you will never forger and begging to come back. Gay, straight, bi, trans, people of color are all welcome to this place where misfits can fly their freak flag and have a memorable night to remember for years to come.
