Severe thunderstorms and tornadoes will be possible across the South this Easter Sunday.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has placed areas south of Interstate 20/59 in an Enhanced Risk Area for storms Sunday; threats could include tornadoes, damaging winds of 70 miles an hour, and quarter size hail. Points north of I 20/59 have been placed under a Slight Risk Area where threats also include tornadoes, quarter size hail, and damaging winds of up to 60 miles an hour.

Storms are currently projected to develop in Alabama on Sunday afternoon and then continue into the evening hours; however, the forecast will continue to change as more information becomes available.
