The 2020 college football season was an eventful year as players, coaches and programs overcame COVID-19 to put on an entertaining season for the country. The NCAA decided that due to the unusual circumstances this season that all players would receive a free year of eligibility, creating one of the few silver linings in 2020.

Alabama redshirt senior offensive lineman, Chris Owens announced on his social media that he will opt to return to Tuscaloosa for his sixth season in 2021. Owens, a reserve offensive lineman was thrust into action in the season's final two games against Notre Dame and Ohio State after starting center, Landon Dickerson, went down with a knee injury.

Owens has played every position on the offensive line during his career at the Capstone and therefore adds a versatile offensive lineman to the 2021 roster. Alabama will likely be losing three starters off the offensive line, Alex Leatherwood, Landon Dickerson and Deonte Brown and therefore Owens returning provides a big boost to the guys likely blocking for Bryce Young.

The former four-star recruit out of Arlington, Texas has played in 38 games during his time in Tuscaloosa and will look to be a key part of the 2021 offensive line. While in Tuscaloosa he has been a part of three SEC Championship teams and two national championship teams while also earning a Bachelors and Master Degree academically.
