This Moving New Ad Shows What Can Happen When You Tell a Girl She’s Pretty [VIDEO]

There's nothing wrong with telling a girl she's pretty--but what happens when that's the only thing she hears? What happens when the message is heard so often that a girl thinks the only thing she can do is be "pretty?" This powerful ad from Verizon, in partnership with Makers and Girls Who Code, stresses the importance of allowing our girls to get dirty, take things apart, build things, and explore the world around them. It ends with a staggering statistic from the National Science Foundation: 66% of 4th grade girls say they like science and math. Only 18% of all college engineering majors are female.
