There's a reason why severe thunderstorm warnings exist; it's to keep this kind of stuff from happening to you.
This video shows a man leaving work in Centre, Alabama in the midst of a particularly nasty storm yesterday afternoon. The wind is crazy, and it's haling like nobody's business--yet this dude STILL gets out in the mess and walks to his car. I get being in a hurry, but walking out in the middle of a hailstorm?

Uh, no thank you.

Things get REAL about 25 seconds in. If this guy had been ten seconds later in getting to his car... he would have never gotten to his car. You can't really make out what's happening to the common-sense-lacking gentleman inside his vehicle, but if it were me, I would have been in shock. And said a lot of unprintable words.

That just goes to show you that you should ALWAYS take severe thunderstorm warnings seriously. I think the Emergency Alert System and National Weather Service did a great job yesterday in keeping everyone informed well in advance of the storms. I was in the studio when the first warning was issued in Tuscaloosa County, and it came out a solid thirty minutes before storms even arrived in the county.

There's a reason the system exists, and it's to keep people safe. Don't be like this dude and disregard weather warnings. Make James Spann proud, and be weather alert.
