The Football Writers Association of America has announced the candidates on the Outland Trophy Watch List and the Crimson Tide has two players representing the Tide. The Outland trophy has been given out since 1946 to recognize the top interior lineman in college football.
As the NFL Draft entry deadline is creeping up quickly, Alabama players have been making decisions whether to return to school for the 2021 season or head to the NFL Draft. Alabama redshirt junior defensive lineman Phil Mathis has announced on his social media that he will return to the Capstone for his redshirt senior season.
Mathis, a redshirt junior, has seen plenty of action this year with Christian Barmore and LaBryan Ray dealing with different injuries. He has made 14 total tackles with 4.5 of them for a loss this season. He was an instrumental element in shutting out Mississippi State as he got his first sack of the season and contributed a QB Hurry and two pass deflections.
