Introducing Honey, a young, sweet female yellow lab mix dog who is our B101.7 Pet of the Week with the Humane Society of West Alabama. Less than 2 years old, Honey has a smooth yellow/white coat and weighs about 40 pounds.

The Humane Society rescued Honey from a situation where an owner had 'super skinny dogs.' It was discovered this person couldn't afford to feed or provide vet care for the dogs. Honey was in the worst shape of the dogs, weighing 30 pounds (noticeably below average for her size) and she was heartworm positive. This poor dog was scared of her own shadow.

Things are much better these days for Honey, the heartworms are gone, she is up to 40 pounds, and has gained quite a bit of confidence for herself. Living in a foster home these days, her caretaker share with us:

Nothing is sweeter than Honey! Honey is a beautiful girl that wants nothing more than to be your little shadow and best friend! She has mastered most of her basic commands including come, sit, down, shake, twirl and stay and continues to learn every day. She is usually shy and submissive with strangers, but given a little time to warm up she wants to be wherever you are and wherever the action is! Honey is young and has a great deal of energy and requires lots exercise and structure, but she repays you a thousand fold with lots of love and kisses.

It has been observed that she is great with other dogs and cats. Also, Honey's favorite activities include playing tuggies, playing chase with other dogs, curling up in your lap for a snooze and ensuring you are never, ever alone in the bathroom.

Honey is up to date on her vet care, heartworm negative and is spayed. She is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.

This heartwarming turnaround for Honey will continue when she finds her forever home.
