Support Local With The Curbside Farmers Market On Saturday
I was raised on farmers markets, so I love being at them and supporting local farmers. My mother grew up on a cattle and vegetable farm; she told me stories of how the whole family worked on the farm and divided the farm chores. My father came from a dairy farm; my grandfather actually owned a dairy. I remember my father telling me stories of the great depression, and they only way they survived is that the community still needed milk and that they traded with other farmers for fruit, vegetables, and meat for their milk. Therefore, I can’t wait for Saturday, May 9, 2020, to pick up my fresh fruit, vegetables, and other great finds at the Curbside Farmers Market at the Tuscaloosa River Market. As we all adjust to our new normal for right now, the Saturday Farmers Market will be curbside pickup only. To participate in the curbside farmers market, you must make your purchases in advance (no payments the day of) and pick up your order on Saturday between 8 am and 11 am. The vendors include Belle Meadow Farm, BDA Farm, Ben’s Bread, Breaking Bread, Eagle’s Wings, Harbin Farm, Lar-Rens Farm, Norris Farm, Nothin Fancy Home Cookin, Snow Bend Farm, and That Cheesecake.
