It's another reason to head over to Starbucks, charging mats for our phones!

I can hear it now, you'll notice your phone is nearly dead and say, 'hey, let's go to Starbucks for a coffee and a phone charge.'  It also gives us the perfect reason to camp out longer, with free Wi-Fi and no fear of your phone battery dying.

This just puts in a good place, away from the mighty panic attack of the dying phone. You won't have to trip over cords to ask a random stranger for a quick shot of charge. Nope, just hit the mat. Sounds good. I can totally see others following suit, to add this customer convenience.

PC Magazine quoted Starbucks chief digital officer Adam Brotman saying:

From Wi-Fi and the in-store Starbucks Digital Network to mobile payment and digital music downloads, we have always tried to anticipate our customers' needs early in the adoption curve and provide a world-class solution. We are thrilled to offer our customers that next level of convenience with Powermat wireless charging.

In Tuscaloosa, there may be a bit of wait for the Powermats to arrive, as company plans call for the nationwide roll out to take three years.
