Several Central Alabama Cities Declare Curfews After Riot Threats
Cities across Central Alabama announced emergency curfews Monday afternoon after receiving "credible threats" that violent riots were coming to their areas.
In a frenzy of activity following Birmingham's decision to implement a curfew, similar announcements have been made in Mountain Brook, Bessemer, Fairfield, Hoover and Homewood.
Each of the Central Alabama communities is putting curfews in place that mirror the one announced by Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin this morning, set to be enforced from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. each night until at least June 4th.
Anyone violating the curfews will be subject to arrest and prosecution.
At the time of writing, no communities in West Alabama have followed suit.
