Remembering 9/11 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Today, 20 years ago, the world stood still. Horrible acts were committed against the United States. This date in our history changed our lives in so many ways.
Two hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Center in 2001. The first act was at 8:46 a.m. and the second at 9:03 a.m. Also, there were two other crashes at the Pentagon and in the woods in Pennsylvania.
Did we forget?
I could be 100% wrong, but sometimes I feel that people become desensitized to our past historical events. 9/11 rocked our world. I know it changed me forever for the positive and altered my way of thinking.
Overall, it changed my mindset on how precious our time is on this Earth. As I grow older, this becomes more important to me. Also, it made me take a hard look at how we treat others.
In 2020, I mentioned that “After 9/11, there was an influx of patriotism as we rekindled our sense of pride in being American. You saw American Flags at every turn.”
Does that pride still exist?
The kindness that we all demonstrated 20 years ago was indescribable. There was outpouring support for our police officers, firefighters, paramedics, nurses, doctors, the military, and everyday Americans turned into real-life heroes.
Does that kindness still exist?
Kindness can go a long way in the world. It most certainly can take you farther than hate. I encourage you today to remember the pride and kindness you felt back in 2001. Continue to channel that into your everyday lives.
