Alabama Shakes came to the Bama to play two concerts organized by Druid City Brewing, Good People Brewing, and WellThatsCool.com back in 2012 and 2013.

It was actually the second time they had played our historic theater. Druid City Brewing Company owner Bo Hicks and a few friends organized two events title 'Tuscaloosa Get Up' with proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity to help families who lost their homes after the April 2011 tornadoes that destroyed 13% of our city. The first concert in 2012 featured Alabama Shakes, The Dexateens, and Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires.

On December 19, 2013, for 'Tuscaloosa Get Up 2,' the Shakes came back and shared the stage with Muscle Shoals songwriter Doc Daily and a then rising St. Paul & The Broken Bones. I was lucky enough, with my friend Zach Travis, to be one of the emcees for the evening.

The first time I remember seeing the Shakes was when they played on the Bama Belle. Since then, along with the two Bama shows, they've played Egans and the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater.

I Googled the 2013 show the other day and was surprised to see the full concert video was up, including my introduction of Alabama Shakes!

Check out the video and allow yourself to maybe get a little excited when I get the crowd to join me in a great big, ROLL TIDE!
