HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Chattanooga Police officer has been formally charged with domestic assault.

Television Station WDEF 12 TV reports that James Oister was arrested on Christmas Day in Harrison, TN, by deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, after being accused of domestic abuse.

A Chattanooga Police Department spokesperson told reporters that Oister has been placed on paid administrative leave, pending an investigation.

Oister bonded out of jail shortly after his arrest, and is expected to be in court on January 4.
