Pitbull Gets Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
Pitbull was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday (July 15) - a feat achieved by few in his arena.
It was sunny weather in sunny California for the ceremony as the international rap sensation received his accolade. "To be up here, it just goes to show what happens when you focus, when you work hard, when you believe in yourself, when you go against all odds," he told the crowd after getting the award.
"It's about being the prime example of what the American dream is and what it embodies," he added.
Also on hand to take in the moment were Lil Jon and Luther Campbell. The relationships run deep. Pitbull was initially signed to Luke's Luke Records in the early 2000s and made his mainstream debut on Lil Jon's Kings of Crunk album a couple years later.
The Cuban rapper received the 2,584th star at the ceremony. He joins a short list of rap artists who have gotten the honor including Tupac Shakur, Diddy, Queen Latifah, LL Cool J and Pharrell.
Pitbull is now 10 albums in on a career that spans a dozen years dating back to his debut album M.I.A.M.I. in 2004. His last project Dale dropped back in 2015 and won a Grammy award for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. His new album Climate Change is slated to come out in 2016.
