Peyton Wilson Selected By The Kansas City Royals In MLB Draft
Alabama baseball’s second baseman and utility player Peyton Wilson was selected 66th overall to the Kansas City Royals in the 2021 MLB Draft.
During this past season, Wilson earned Second Team All-SEC honors at second base, All-Southeast Region honors from ABCA/Rawlings, and was selected to the Newcomer All-SEC Team.
Wilson started in all 58 games including 55 starts at second base and three in the outfield. He had a record team-high of 46 runs and 10 stolen bases, as well as leading Alabama in hits and doubles. Wilson has also led off a game with a home run five times. He ended his sophomore campaign batting .290 with 13 doubles, a triple, 9 home runs, 31 RBI, and 46 runs scored.
Wilson is the highest-drafted Tide second baseman in program history and the highest as an infielder since Mikey White in 2015 when he went 63rd overall to the Oakland Athletics. Wilson is just one of twelve Alabama players to be taken in first or second of the MLB Draft.
