Earlier in the week Alabama head coach Nick Saban tested positive for COVID-19. The coach has been in quarantine at his home while handling preparations for the upcoming matchup with Georgia virtually. Saban has been receiving evaluation from team medical staff Dr. Jimmy Robinson and Jeff Allen. Allen provided an update on the coach's condition today.

Allen reveals that the initial positive test came from an outside lab that the university has been using to handle its supplemental testing. Saban has been undergoing PCR tests through an SEC appointed lab with the hopes of still coaching on the sidelines on Saturday.

Per SEC rules, should Saban receive three negative PCR tests, each 24 hours apart and conducted by an SEC appointed lab then his initial positive test will be ruled a false positive. His Thursday test performed by an SEC lab came back negative.

Saban is currently without fever and asymptomatic.

Saban said on his radio show last night that he would not be allowed to coach in the stadium from a skybox or an isolated location, therefore receiving these negative tests will be the only way he allowed to participate in the game.

The NCAA prohibits use of outside communication up to 90-minutes prior to the game, eliminating any hope that Saban could coach from his home while watching the television broadcast.

Saban will be tested again today and on Saturday morning by an SEC appointed lab and that will determine if he is allowed to coach on the sidelines on Saturday night.
