My Favorite Musicians of All Time Are Playing at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater July 3
Bob Dylan, Wilco, and My Morning Jacket are playing the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater on July 3, 2013. If you need me, I'll be in my office screaming like a giddy schoolgirl.
The Americanarama Festival of Music is rolling to the Amphitheater on July 3 for a show that begins at 5:30pm and is expected to last five-and-a-half glorious hours. I don't know how I can handle this much awesomeness in one night. The universe may implode.
Bob Dylan needs no introduction, as he is BOB DYLAN. Dude is legend. I am beside myself over the chance to see him in concert in my own city.
Wilco is one of my favorite bands of all time as well. Their music is the soundtrack to my early adulthood. I can't think of a time when the CD (yes; CD--I am old) Yankee Hotel Foxtrot wasn't in my car. One song in particular will always make me think of summers in college with my best friend, driving around Bowling Green with the windows down and the stereo up: "Forget the Flowers" from the album Being There. (*Author's note: I miss you, Melissa.)
And My Morning Jacket? I was crazy about this band in college. I still kinda am. I was counting shows I've attended on my way in to work this morning; I have seen My Morning Jacket at least 14 times. We used to follow the band from city to city with each tour. It was, without a doubt, some of the most fun I have had in my life.
Fun Meg Fact: I met some of my best friends at MMJ shows. In fact, I wouldn't be living in Tuscaloosa if it weren't for the band: I met a guy at a show; we fell in love, and I moved to Tuscaloosa to be with him. It didn't work out, as relationships do sometimes, but I wouldn't be living in T-Town today if it weren't for My Morning Jacket.
Sentimental what-have-you aside: My Morning Jacket ROCKS. Some of my favorite Jacket jams are listed below. Stop whatever you're doing and ROCK OUT.
I'll see y'all at the Amphitheater July 3. Tickets for the show go on sale Friday at 10am at the Amphitheater Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations. You can also charge by phone (1-800-745-3000).
Let's round this post out with an extremely crappy photo of me and MMJ lead singer, Jim James. Yes; it's an awful picture of me--but it's an awful picture of me with JIM JAMES. Respect.
