SPOILER ALERT! AVERT YOUR EYES IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MAD MEN SEASON FINALE YET. If you have, let's talk about a certain musical moment that caught everyone by surprise...

After an emotional roller-coaster of a mid-season finale, the fate of Don Draper and everyone else at SC&P is now in the fate of McCann. Roger sold the company to their long-standing rival in a last-ditch effort to keep Don on board. Roger had to step up and be the leader his business needed, as Bert Cooper passed away moments after seeing Apollo 11 land on the moon.

(Note: I'm not even going to talk about Peggy's Burger Chef pitch, because it made me feel ALL THE FEELS, and this mascara isn't waterproof. Anyway...)

The episode ended with a musical number. Yes--a musical number on Mad Men. Don envisioned/hallucinated Bert Cooper's bidding him farewell in a song and dance number that's sure to go down as one of the greatest character send-offs in history. Bert (and those argyle socks!) danced and sang, reminding Don that the stone cold cash money he just made in selling out to McCann is meaningless--the best things in life are free.

Ugh. I'm tearing up JUST TYPING that. Anyway, most people didn't understand what the deal was with Bert's send-off. Robert Morse, who has played Bert Cooper throughout the series, is a Tony Award winning actor. Check him out in 1965's How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and then try to tell me that ending wasn't PERFECT.

We'll miss you, Bert.
