West Alabama Police Rescue Tennessee Runaways After Car Breaks Down
Police in West Alabama rescued a group of runaways from Tennessee who found themselves stranded in Sumter County with car trouble Tuesday morning, according to a Facebook post from the Livingston Police Department.
The law enforcement agency took to social media to say some of their officers were responded to assist a stranded motorist "in the late night hours" between Monday and Tuesday.
After some conversation and investigation, officers realized the group was "actually runaways from Tennessee that had been missing for several days."
Police in Livingston said the young people have been safely turned over to law enforcement agencies in Tennessee early Tuesday morning and will soon be reunited with their families there.
"A huge thank you to the multiple departments from Tennessee that helped coordinate and assist us," Livingston police wrote in their post.
Livingston is about 60 miles southwest of Tuscaloosa in nearby Sumter County.
