Life as a New Mom: Presents from Across the Pond
My daughter received a special present this weekend all the way from Great Britain! Dolly doesn't get to watch much television, but we make an exception for Sarah & Duck, which we watch every night on Sprout's Goodnight Show. Dolly adores Sarah & Duck. She quacks along to the show's theme song and gives each episode her complete and undivided attention (which is HUGE for an almost-two-year-old). The show is produced for the BBC's children's programming station, CBeebies, and that means that it's especially difficult to find Sarah & Duck books and toys here in the United States.
A friend of mine (who lives in Oregon, BTW) and I were fawning over a photo posted by Sarah & Duck's Official Facebook Page: CBeebies was releasing a limited-edition book and sticker set that came with Sarah & Duck figurines. We were bummed about not being able to score the set for our girls (her little one loves the show, too) when a mutual friend stepped in to save the day.
Our friend lives in Europe, and he took time out of his busy life to hunt down two of the limited edition Sarah & Duck sets and mail them to our girls! I am lucky to have such thoughtful and kind friends; I really am. The package arrived at our house Saturday--all the way from Great Britain, and it was love at first sight. Dolores squealed with glee when she opened the package and found her little Sarah & Duck pals inside!
She adores her Sarah & Duck figurines. She likes to take them with her everywhere--the kitchen, the bath, the living room. She and Sarah are BFFs.
Watching her play with her Sarah & Duck pals makes me especially thankful for the friends I have in my life. We really are the luckiest!
BTW, Dolores took one of her stickers and placed it on my phone case. I think it makes a lovely addition to my Samsung--and it's a reminder of the precious little lady I get to call mine.
