Life as a New Mom: Making a Splash [PHOTOS]

Memorial Day weekend was a lot of fun for my family, especially my daughter; she got to go swimming for the first time. I covered her from head to toe in SPF 8,000; she rocked her Hello Kitty swimsuit and spent the afternoon splashing in her kiddie pool. 

She had so much fun! I love seeing her experience new things; she's never shy about anything. She didn't fuss because she thought the water was cold--she just jumped right in and started playing. She liked splashing and using her cups to throw water around. Her face lit up every time she poured water out of a cup and back into the pool. It was like magic for her. I love that about children--the simplest of things can leave them in awe.

Next summer we'll be teaching her to swim, but for now I'm going to enjoy watching her play in the kiddie pool.
