Josh McMillon will return to Alabama for his sixth year senior season, according to a Facebook post made by his mother Jacqueline McMillon. McMillon was slated to start at inside linebacker for the Crimson Tide as a fifth-year senior in 2019. A knee injury suffered in August cost McMillon the entirety of the 2019 season.

McMillon was granted a medical redshirt by the NCAA to allow him a sixth-year of eligibility in December of 2019. He implied at the time he wasn’t sure if he would take advantage of the extra season granted to him by the NCAA. McMillon’s mother announced on Facebook that a decision had been made to return to the Tide defense.

McMillon will join Dylan Moses in returning to Alabama for the 2020 season; both veteran linebackers were lost in fall camp to knee injuries. McMillon and Moses were replaced by freshmen Shane Lee and Christian Harris, Ale Kaho and Markail Benton also saw sporadic duty at inside linebacker during 2019. The 2020 Tide linebacker core will also be bolstered by incoming freshman Demouy Kennedy and Jackson Bratton. McMillon has recorded 19 tackles and one sack in nine career appearances for the Crimson Tide.
