Join Tuscaloosa Officials For A Discussion On Reopening Schools

Tuscaloosa officials are coming together to discuss the best way to keep students safe this upcoming school year. The Coronavirus is still very real, and with the summer break quickly coming to an end, many parents are wondering how this upcoming school year will look.

The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama is hosting a virtual event on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020 to discuss potential options for the 2020-2021 school year. the goal is to keep students safe and create a plan that works for the families of students as well. This virtual event will feature presenters Dr. Mike Daria, Superintendent, Tuscaloosa City Schools, and Dr. Keri Johnson, Superintendent, Tuscaloosa County Schools.

According to the Chamber's event page, the event will begin at 10 am and last for one hour. If you'd like to attend this virtual event, you'd need to register by clicking this link. The Chamber stated on the Our Schools: Recovery and Reopening Facebook event page, "With the uncertainty that lies ahead of us, our educators and administrators must carefully and thoughtfully create a plan that keeps our students safe and works for their families. What will that look like for the 2020-21 school year? Join us as local superintendents discuss options that include full-time school, staggered or blended attendance, fully virtual classes, or a combination."
