Alabama businessman Stan Pate visited Tuscaloosa Monday morning for the groundbreaking of a new Guthrie’s Chicken.

In addition to the groundbreaking, Pate called in to the Steve and DC morning show on 95.3 The Bear to talk about some of his other projects.

One business involvement Pate spoke on included the permanently-closed Books A Million on Skyland. Pate revealed the bookstore was being prepped for demolition. 

“I’m looking forward to getting it torn down,” said Pate. “We started removing the concrete a week ago.” Pate noted that “quite a few businesses” have been in talks with him about moving into the location. 

“City Hall has promised support,” said Pate, “We’re ready to get started.”
