New Café in Downtown Tuscaloosa Offers Healthy Lunch, Dinner & Meal Plans
A company aiming to make healthy food that tastes great has expanded into Tuscaloosa, where they'll offer lunch, dinner, grab-and-go entrees and full-week meal planning.
Franchisees Sam Lipscomb and Amanda Rosenzweig said the brand, called Clean Eatz, was first launched in North Carolina in 2013.
Lipscomb and Rosenzweig, who are engaged to be married, told the Steve & DC morning show on 95.3 the Bear Monday that the concept has exploded, and grown to more than 100 locations in just 10 years.
The couple opened their own Clean Eatz cafe in downtown Tuscaloosa across University Boulevard from the Richard Shelby Federal Courthouse in December.
"We are a full-service cafe open for lunch and dinner where you can build your own bowl or build your own burger," Lipscomb said. "We have flatbreads, melts and wraps, even an ice coffee protein bar and a smoothie bar."
Rosenzweig, though, said Clean Eatz' true bread and butter are their pre-made meals, which can be bough individually or as part of a weeklong meal plan.
"We have our grab-and-go's which are frozen versions of our meals that we keep in store all the time so there's always something for you to come in and grab, but the bigger thing we do is meal plans," she said. "Our menu comes out once a week on Tuesdays on our website. Folks have until Sunday night to place an order, and pickups go from Sunday to Tuesday. We have a lot of different varieties catering to several diets - low-carb, extra-protein, and we have some keto grab-and-go versions as well."
Grab a meal, microwave it for three minutes and bam! You've got a carefully crafted, healthy, fresh option that the couple says tastes great to boot. And these aren't the steamed rice, plain broccoli and grilled chicken combos of meal plans past. This week's Clean Eatz offerings included loaded buffalo chicken tots, garden herb steak bowls, premium brisket mac & cheese, a thin-crush bacon cheeseburger pizza and more.
