Police Charge Moundville Man with Robbing Gas Station at Gunpoint
Police have charged a Moundville man with robbing an area gas station at gunpoint this weekend, according to court documents obtained by the Tuscaloosa Thread.
In a deposition filed Wednesday, police said a cashier was robbed at gunpoint inside the Big Sandy Food Mart on Highway 69 in Tuscaloosa County between Moundville and Hull late Saturday night by two masked suspects who held a gun to her head.
The men took money from two registers and fled the scene, but investigators have since been able to match surveillance footage at the Food Mart to other videos captured in the area before and after the robbery. Using vehicles, outfits and shoes as data points, they have identified a suspect.
Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested Clarence Edward Lake, Jr. and charged him with one count of first-degree robbery.
The 28-year-old Moundville man was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where his bond was set at $60,000.
The documents did not say if the second suspect has been identified or if they will face charges - stay connected to the Tuscaloosa Thread for updates if any are made available.
