The annual Mal Moroe Memorial Tournament and Charity Auction will take place April 25-26. All proceeds from the event benefit  Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama members and help to provide at-risk children and teens a safe and life-changing place to be after school and during the summer.

In a statement released by the Boys and Girls Clubs of West Alabama, President and CEO Kim Turner said, "This premier event has a little something for everyone. There is an online auction open all week before the tournament, a lovely evening at NorthRiver Yacht Club that includes a live auction and, of course, a full day of golf.”

There is no fee for participating in the online auction. It will be hosted at betterworld.org and opens April 18 at 8 am. Details for logging in will be provided on the Boys and Girls Clubs Facebook and Instagram and the organization’s website at bgcwestal.org.

For the golf tournament, online registration can be found at malmooregolf.org. There is a $400 entry fee for individuals or a $1600 entry fee for a team of four.

The tournament is played as a Texas Scramble. There are morning and afternoon rounds, with tee times beginning at 7:30 am and 12 pm. Breakfast and lunch are provided and tournament prizes are delivered after the event for the winning teams.

Per the release from the Boys and Girls Clubs, "The Mal Moore Memorial Tournament started in 1990 as the Wimp Sanderson Boys Club Charity Golf Tournament. David Hobbs and Mark Gottfried served as hosts after Wimp until Mal Moore took the position in 2000. Mal remained with the tournament until he died in 2013. Now in their 5th year, Greg and Regina Byrne serve as hosts."
