Man Killed in ATV Crash in Tuscaloosa Caused Collision, Troopers Conclude
A Tuscaloosa County man who died in an all-terrain vehicle wreck late last month was responsible for the accident, Alabama State Troopers said in a Monday morning update.
The deceased, Richard L. Hudson, was riding a Coolster four-wheeler ATV on March 29th when he collided with a Ford Escape that was being driven by a 31-year-old Gordo woman.
In their first report to media, Troopers said the SUV struck the ATV and Hudson, who was not wearing a helmet, did not survive the crash.
On Monday morning, Corporal Reginal King, who is a spokesperson for the Troopers in west Alabama, corrected their first release and said upon further investigation, it was determined that the Coolster ATV that was being operated by Hudson struck the Escape, not the other way around.
The deadly accident occurred on Tuscaloosa County Road 140 near Elrod Road, Corporal King said, about two miles west of Buhl.
