"Central is working hard to create a culture that is student centered that also fosters creativity and full engagement. Seeing the students have fun while getting excited about community service is an amazing experience to behold. We already have several organizations on campus which promote participation in community service, in addition to having several students who are members of federated study clubs and Greek based organizations who also focus on community based service," said Rachel James who is the English Language Arts Grade 12 Teacher and Varsity Cheer Coach at Central High School.

"Hopefully more students with join in with the challenge this summer which will continue to give them something productive to do."

Community service is something that Central high school's principal Teresha Jones-Hamilton, finds extremely important for her students.

"It is very important for Central students to participate in community service because it teaches our students the importance of giving back. We consider ourselves a Falcon Family. Family looks out for one another, meets needs as they arise, and works together to improve our current situations."

Students in West Alabama can participate in this community service initiative by volunteering throughout the summer. The school with the most community service hours in the fall will get a visit from DreDay and LP and the student in the school with the most service hours will get get a cash prize!
