Monday was not a typical day for the Mobile Police officers parked in a Cottage Hill Road parking lot.  As reported by AL.com, a motorist traveling at an excessive rate of speed entered the parking lot, heading toward the officer’s direction.

Reporting says police attempted to move their cars from the oncoming car’s path to avoid a wreck. However, the driver collided with one of the police units.

Edward Earl McCall was identified as the driver of the vehicle that struck the police car.

McCall reportedly tried to evade the authorities but struck a brick column. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Mobile Metro Jail.

McCall has been charged with one count of reckless endangerment, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief, and two counts of first-degree attempted assault.
