Former Alabama RB Retires from NFL
A former Alabama running back has called it a career in the NFL. Two-time national champion Damien Harris is stepping away from the game at 27 years old.
Harris was the 87th overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft by the New England Patriots. During his college days at Alabama, Harris rushed for 3,070 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also hauled in 52 receptions for 402 yards and two touchdowns.
During his time in the league, Harris rushed for 2,188 yards and 21 touchdowns. Harris also hauled in 42 receptions for 297 yards.
Harris suffered a head and neck injury during the 2023 NFL season during his only season with the Buffalo Bills. After playing sparingly for the first six weeks, Harris suffered a scary head and neck injury against the New York Giants and was carted off the field on a stretcher. He did not play the remainder of the 2023 season. He's decided to prioritize his health and retire at a relatively young age.
