Alabama wide receiver Isaiah Bond is very fast. He won high school state titles in Georgia in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes. He regularly burns Alabama's opponents on deep balls, as Tennessee can attest.

Bond minced no words Wednesday when asked about said speed, saying, "Yes sir. I would say I'm the fastest guy on the team."

Few would argue.

Bond also may have dropped a hint about another of his duties. He said he was a  a punt returner at Buford, GA High School and has been working on it at Alabama: "You should be seeing me soon."

Does that mean Bond will replace struggling returner Kool-Aid McKinstry when LSU visits Alabama Nov. 4?

Only time will tell, but that's a strong hint. Nick Saban wants his returners to catch the ball in the air and not let it roll inside the 10 as has been the case recently with McKinstry. Bye weeks are often the time when such changes are made. It will be quite interesting to see who drops back deep the first time LSU has to punt.

Getting back to offense, as a deep threat for Jalen Milroe Bond spoke about the redshirt sophomore's talent at what old school fans call "a bomb," aka a deep pass down the field.

"I think honestly just the raw talent Jalen Milroe has," Bond said. "He's able to throw the ball deep. He's a bigger dude, a bigger quarterback and he has great receivers as well that can stretch the field.

"Jalen Milroe, he's obviously shown great improvement. He's getting better every season. I believe in Milroe. We did a lot of off-season training together. That's going to help us in the long stretch."

The 5-11 Bond certainly does not lack for confidence.

Here's proof: "Even though you might say I'm not the biggest wide receiver, I play as if I was 6-4, 200 pounds."
