Another Alabama WR hits the Portal
Once an Iron Bowl hero, now he's now not a member of the Alabama football program.
According to multiple reports, Alabama junior receiver Ja'Corey Brooks is in the transfer portal.
Brooks will always be remembered for his game-tying touchdown catch in the the 2021 Iron Bowl. He was also known as one of Alabama's top receivers in 2022 with 674 yards and a team-high eight receiving touchdowns.
That all changed this year. Brooks has just three catches for 30 yards and no touchdowns while battling injuries that caused him to fall out of the playing rotation. He's played in nine games this season but mostly on kicking teams, including a blocked punt against Ole Miss.
In his freshman season of 2021 Brooks had 15 catches for 192 yards and two touchdowns, one of which was the catch that now legendary Iron Bowl catch. In some ways, Brooks was a prequel to Isaiah Bond.
Brooks is the third Alabama player to hit the portal this week, following quarterback Tyler Buchner [who will return to Notre Dame but play lacrosse] and another injured receiver, Thai Jones-Bell.
