Alabama Senior Named SEC Co-Player of the Week
Alabama softball remained undefeated over the weekend, going 5-0 in the Green and Gold Classic in Birmingham, Alabama.
Alabama softball notched wins over UAB, Western Carolina, Bradley, and UNA en route to an undefeated weekend. During the midweek, Alabama also won against UNA at home.
Johnson led Alabama in both hits and runs with eight and nine respectively as Alabama cruised past the competition. She batted 8-13 with six RBIs and scored at least one run in five games, extending her already team-leading streak to 12 games.
Johnson had a career-high four hits against UNA and scored twice with 2 RBIs. She scored a career-high three times during Alabama's run-rule win over UA on Sunday.
This is the first time Johnson won the award, and it is the second time a Crimson Tide member from Team 28 has won the award this season. Jenna's younger sister, Lauren, won Co-Freshman of the Week on February 12. The last Alabama player to bring home SEC Player of the Week prior to Johnson was Bailey Hemphill in 2021.
Alabama will hit the road, but not too far on Wednesday when they travel to Jacksonville, Alabama to take on the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Wednesday, February 28 at 5:00 p.m. CT. You can listen to the game on 97.5 FM.
