Alabama Center Got a Grip
"I just changed my grip, and it's been more consistent. I went to the dead-ball snap," McLaughlin said at a Monday media appearance. "I think the inaccurate snaps have been cleaned up a little bit. That's still a thing I'm trying to work on, just cleaning up the snaps in practice and in the game — just putting an emphasis on how important it is to get the ball in Milroe's hands and let him go to work and do what he's so good at."
Perhaps it's no coincidence that the offensive line has improved weekly as McLaughlin's snaps have.
"Speaking about the offensive line, it’s finally starting to come together and we’re starting to gel as a group and doing everything we wanted to do at the beginning of the season," McLaughlin said. "Through the work on our technique with Coach [Eric] Wolford, and the way we’re playing ball right now, it’s all really helped.”
[Fun fact: Wolford has a daugher, Marlee, who is a sophomore starter on the volleyball team at Tuscaloosa Academy.]
McLaughlin and his teammates are preparing for a Senior Day/final home game against Chattanooga Saturday at 11 a.m. The game will be available on Tide 100.9, 95.3 The Bear and 1230 AM WTBC.
