Is Alabama the Worst State to Drive In?
As this cold, freezing weather brings icicles to vehicles and icy roads to a usually humid Alabama, it can be difficult to drive in these unusual conditions.
So, does this make Alabama the worst state to drive in?
WalletHub has created a study of the best and worst states to drive in as of 2024, and it is pretty interesting.
To create this list, WalletHub had compared the traffic, road safety, and vehicle maintenance in all 50 states. Based on this list, here are the three WORST states to drive in:
3. Delaware
2. Washington
1. Hawaii
If you didn't hate traffic enough already, WalletHub analyst Cassandra Happe revealed this: "What many people don't realize is that traffic congestion can also be extremely costly because of the amount of time it wastes, which is why the best states for driving tend to be sparsely populated."
So, this list is not declaring the best driving state period, but the conditions of driving itself, like traffic congestion, access to gas stations, and road conditions, and more.
The good news about this list is that Alabama made it to the top five best states, coming in right at number five behind Oklahoma, Kansas, Georgia, and Iowa at number one. Roll Tide!
