Hillcrest’s Ethan Crawford Offered SEC Scholarship
The Class 6A Hillcrest Patriots had a successful 2020 season, the Patriots went 9-3 and finished second in Region 4 last year. The Patriots are led by rising junior quarterback Ethan Crawford. Crawford has started for Hillcrest for the past two seasons and will look to lead the Patriots deeper into the playoffs in 2021. The standout quarterback shared on his social media he received a scholarship offer from the University of Tennessee.
Crawford is not ranked on the popular recruiting website 247Sports but they do report that he also has scholarship offers from schools like Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Maryland and Southern Miss in addition to his Tennessee offer.
The young quarterback will surely accumulate more scholarship offers as his name grows in notoriety. Only a junior, he will have two more seasons to compete at the high school level as well as have the opportunities to go to college camps to gain exposure.
Currently the Patriot is most well-known for scoring the game-winning touchdown against Wetumpka on a game-ending play featuring multiple laterals.
Crawford will be playing for a new coach this year as his former coach Sam Adams left Hillcrest to accept the head coaching position at Oxford High School. The Patriots hired Jamie Mitchell to take over the program after serving just one year in charge at Shades Valley. Mitchell carries a 220-81 record and a state championship victory across 23 years of coaching.
