Scrolling through Facebook and Twitter today, this caught my attention, Alabama bans 'Dixieland Delight' from games. My immediate reaction, 'say what?'

The rumor made a claim that Alabama staff said no more to the popular 4th quarter tradition of fans inside Bryant-Denny stadium singing the country song, 'Dixieland Delight.' There is already quite a bit of questioning going around about the explicit language many fans use to call SEC teams in the song. So, did the school slam the yellow-hammer down to ban it?

As quick as the rumor made its way around, a barrage of posts followed to call out the claim as FAKE! Digging more into this, I see the song is 'under review.'

University of Alabama Athletic Director Bill Battle said in a statement:

It is always our goal to represent the university with class in every endeavor, and the behavior of our fans is an important element in that effort.

So for now the song has not officially been banned, but that could change.

If you haven't been to game at Bryant-Denny stadium lately, below is video of the crowd singing 'Dixieland Delight' at the Iron Bowl game between Alabama and Auburn.  Warning there is explicit  language.

Hey, wait! I have an idea, how about we petition for the stadium to bring back the 'Macarena!' Sure, just imagine the fun and all those amazing crowd videos that will flood social media. Okay, maybe not.
