You're probably like me, you like to predict the winner of an award before it's announced. It may be seconds before or in my case a couple of days earlier. Let's take a look at the report card and recap the music's big night at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards.

Below are the 4 major categories, my picks in bold and the actual winners noted. Let's see how that compares to what you thought too!

Best New Artist

  • Bastille
  • Iggy Azalea
  • Brandy Clark
  • Haim
  • Sam Smith  --WINNER--

Really, not much of a surprise here. Some did think Iggy had a shot at it. She did, but this was clearly the starting point for Sam's big night.

Song of the Year

  • “All About That Bass,” Meghan Trainor
  • “Chandelier,” Sia
  • “Shake It Off,” Taylor Swift
  • “Stay With Me,” Sam Smith  --WINNER--
  • “Take Me to Church,” Hozier

The train is rolling now, here is big prize number two.

Record of the Year
  • “Fancy,” Iggy Azalea feat. Charli XCX
  • “Chandelier,” Sia
  • “Stay With Me (Darkchild Version),” Sam Smith  --WINNER--
  • “Shake It Off,” Taylor Swift
  • “All About That Bass,” Meghan Trainor

Biggie number three, check. Somebody is rolling towards a possible sweep, the first since the early 80s. Could it be?

Albums of the Year

  • Morning Phase, Beck --WINNER--
  • Beyoncé, Beyoncé
  • x, Ed Sheeran
  • G I R L, Pharrell
  • In the Lonely Hour, Sam Smith

Look out for Beyonce in this category. So I thought and so did Kayne West! Did you see that last night? Beck gets on stage to accept the award, then here comes Kanye West to stage. Here we go, we're about to relive a Taylor Swift moment. Yeah, remember that? Kayne breaks up her acceptance for an award to announce Beyonce deserved it. So, is this really happening again? Beck was thinking so and then Kanye turned around with a smile on his face. It made for a funny Grammy moment.  Apparently, he was serious though.  Figures.

Here's the video clip.

So, I ended up getting 3 out of 4 correct or 75%. Not too bad. What about you, how did you pick 'em last night?

Other thoughts on the night:

  • Look a couple Patriots making football puns. That would be receiver Julian Edelman and West Alabama alum and game hero, Malcolm Butler. Plus, Patriots owner Bob Kraft was in the crowd.
  • Look, Pharrell Williams turned in the Arby's cowboy hat for the bell boy cap. An interesting remix of "Happy."
  • A bridge between generations with the pairing of artists. They work. Impressed with Hozier and Annie Lennox teaming up.
  • Madonna is back. It was a good performance, not blown away though.
  • John Mayer and Ed Sheeran are great together. They should tour! Imagine that?  A side note: did you see John Mayer host the Late Late Show on CBS this past Friday night?  He was good!  Plus, Ed Sheeran was a guest and the pair show chemistry already, making it not a surprise on how well it worked at the Grammys.
  • Sia lived up to the expectation of the odd singing with her back to the wall. But, surprised us by having Kristen Wiig to dance through the song.

If you missed it, here's the Sia performance video:
