Family Counseling Service of West Alabama (FCS) has hosted its annual fundraiser, Death by Chocolate since 1992.

Unfortunately, the event had to be canceled last year due to the pandemic. This year, the much anticipated event has a new name and new spin to it.

Larry Deavers, Director of FCS said,

To ensure everyone’s safety and keeping with CDC guidelines, we have decided to make this year’s event a month-long chocolate tasting experience called 'Tour de Chocolat'. We know so many people look forward to this event each year so we wanted to still make it happen. Our board has been working very hard, and although things will be different, participants still get to try all of Tuscaloosa’s best chocolate treats.

From May 3rd - 31st, 2021, you can visit participating restaurants and caterers to try their chocolate creations. Your ticket to the experience is a "passport" that you can get stamped as you visit each location.

You will then be able to cast your vote online anytime before the end of May for each category for each passport purchased.

  • Best presentation
  • Best traditional dessert
  • Best special dietary needs (gluten free, vegan, paleo, etc.)
  • Most innovative creation

The funds raised from the event help FCS provide many of the free counseling services offered to children and families in our community.

The restaurants participating include, Peterbrooke Chocolatier, Gourmade Kitchen, Southern Ale House, Dillard's Chophouse, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Side By Side, Central Mesa, The Wine Market, Mary's Cakes & Pastries, and Mark's Mart.

Here's a plus, at the end of the Tour, submit a photo of your passport stamped by all participating restaurants for a chance to win a set of four B. F. Goodrich tires!
