Current Contests Cancelled by COVID-19
As the college football season struggles to make it through the season several notable names will be missing this week due to testing positive for COVID-19. Only a handful of games were postponed or cancelled this week, one game at the moment in the SEC was postponed.
Mike Locksley, the head coach of Maryland and former Alabama offensive coordinator tested positive for COVID-19. Maryland's matchup with Michigan State is cancelled due to an outbreak in the Terrapin program. This is the second game in a row Maryland has had to cancel due to issues with COVID-19.
Philip Fulmer, athletic director of Tennessee, has announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19 but feels fine at this time. His positive test is not a factor for the Tennessee football program, the matchup with Auburn is still scheduled for tomorrow at 6:00 p.m.
Chip Lindsey, head coach of the Troy Trojans, will not coach this weekend due to testing positive for COVID-19, but his team will still take on Middle Tennessee this weekend.
The University of Miami postponed its game with Georgia Tech and the Hurricane's head coach Manny Diaz revealed that he tested positive with his program dealing with a number of cases. The Hurricanes started the season 7-1 before having to postpone this weekend.
One game that may be in jeopardy but appears to be on is Mississippi State vs. Georgia. Mississippi State appears to be right at the conference threshold for amount of players available but Mike Leach's team did make the trip to Athens.
Other games that are not happening this weekend due to COVID-19 are UAB vs. UTEP, Charlotte vs. Marshall, Ole Miss vs. Texas A&M, Texas vs. Kansas, Central Arkansas vs. Louisiana, Houston vs. SMU, Navy vs. South Florida Wake Forrest vs. Duke, UL Monroe vs. Louisiana Tech, UNLV vs. Colorado State, San Jose State vs. Fresno State, Arizona State vs. Colorado and Washington State vs. Stanford.
