Seattle Seahawks offensive lineman, Chance Warmack has decided to opt out of the 2020 NFL season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Warmack is not deemed high risk but has decided to sit out because people close to him have contracted COVID-19.

Warmack signed with the Seahawks to a one-year contract worth $910,000 this past March after spending 2019 out of the NFL. He reportedly took 2019 off due to injuries.

He has previously played for the Tennessee Titans and the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a reserve offensive lineman for the Eagles 2018 Super Bowl championship team.

Warmack will receive a stipend worth $150,000 because is not deemed a high-risk player per an agreement between the NFL and the NFLPA.

Players have seven days from the signing of the deal, which is expected to take place today, to inform their organizations whether they will opt out of the season or play.

Warmack's one-year contract will toll to 2021 meaning he will still be under contract with the Seahawks for next football season.

The Seahawks will turn to free agent acquisition B.J. Finney and rookie third-round draft pick Damien Lewis out of LSU to play guard in 2020 without Warmack.

The former Crimson Tide offensive lineman joins Baltimore Ravens returner De'Anthony Thomas and Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif in deciding to opt out of 2020. There will surely be more players decide to take one of the stipends should they, or someone close to them be vulnerable to coronavirus.

Warmack was drafted in the first round by the Titans in 2013 and has started 51 of his 68 games played in the NFL.
