Shocking Video Shows Brookwood Picketers Strike Back Against Warrior Met Coal Scab
The Tuscaloosa Thread was alerted to a since-viral video of Warrior Met Coal strikers violently damaged a strikebreaker's vehicle as he attempts to cross the picket line.
The video, posted to a public Facebook group called "What's REALLY Happening in Brookwood," shows a man in a sedan crossing the United Mine Workers of America picket lines at Warrior Met Coal in Brookwood, Alabama. Verbal assaults are volleyed as the man quickly becomes surrounded by angry strikers, and then the violence escalates in a shocking fashion.
Suddenly, what appears to be a concrete brick sails through the man's back windshield, shattering the glass and caving in his vehicle's ceiling. The destruction is met with hooting and hollering from the strikers as the driver silently proceeds to enter the Warrior Met campus.
It is unclear who exactly threw the brick. William Jones, the man who published the video, clarified that he is not the man in the video.
This isn't the first violent incident that's occurred at the mines since the strike began in April. UMWA alleges that its members were the target of violence from Warrior Met Coal employees, sharing a video of miners being the target of vehicular assault.
Neither representatives from the United Mine Workers of America nor Warrior Met Coal were available for comment at the time of publication.
