Boys And Girls Club Begins Registration For Upcoming School Year
Too many times, I've heard people say "If kids had something to do after school, they'd learn so much and would stay out of trouble."
I'm living proof that after-school programs help teach kids so many things.
Those programs also expose kids to so much.
Growing up, I spent a lot of my early years in after-school programs.
One specific after-school program I remember going to a lot was the Boys & Girls Club.
That's the first place I learned how to swim. It was even the first place I saw a huge indoor swimming pool.
After school, my community Boys & Girls Club offered free swimming lessons and my parents made sure I was there.
It paid off because my first job was as a lifeguard inside a waterpark.
This after-school program was also the first place I learned how to play pool.
Hanging out with the big kids forced me to learn and I've loved the game ever since.
One of my favorite games to play to this day is foosball. I honed my skills at this game inside the Boys & Girls Club.
Lastly, the Boys & Girls Club after-school program is where I was first exposed to technology. The computer classes and lessons meant so much to me.
With the school year coming up, The Boys & Girls Club of West Alabama has officially begun registration for the upcoming school year's after-school program.
According to their Facebook post, the fee per child for the year is just $25.
Children ages 6-18 are welcome in the after-school program.
